July 8-12, 2026
You’ve read the Little House books. You’ve imagined the town of Walnut Grove. You’ve read about Plum Creek.
But what if you could actually go there?
It’s time to put your feet on the soil and walk the same trails Laura did.
This July, we’re embarking on a great adventure: The Little House on the Prairie Family Road Trip. Travel with us by bus to see the original homesites in Minnesota and South Dakota and make unforgettable memories.
We'll begin our adventure in Minneapolis with an orientation gathering and dinner together
We'll visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove and the "dug-out" site at Plum Creek
We'll attend the Village Fair with period games, a costume booth, and a Laura look-alike contest
We'll tour the town where the Ingalls family moved after Walnut Grove and met Almanzo
We'll attend Laura Ingalls pageants in both Walnut Grove, MN and De Smet, SD on our trip. Each town puts on an outdoor drama, celebrating Laura's life.
Q: What’s included in the cost of the trip?
A: Hotel accommodations from July 8 to check-out on July 12, most meals, transportation via charter bus, admissions to historical sites, Wilder-pageant tickets, and a one-year membership to the Prairie Readers Guild (a book club for Little House lovers beginning January 1, 2026).
Q: What’s not included?
A: Travel to Minneapolis, personal expenses, any meals not listed in the itinerary, and trip protection / medical insurance (recommended).
Q: Where and when will we meet?

Q: How many people can join this trip?
A: The group size is limited to 10-12 families (up to 50 travelers).
Q: Are there age restrictions for participation?
A: The trip is family friendly. Some activities (walking tours, rugged terrain) may be more suitable for older children, it's the middle of summer, and we'll have some long tour days. But it depends on your family.
Q: Do participants need travel / health insurance?
A: We strongly recommend trip protection and medical insurance. They are not included, and you're responsible for your own coverage.

A: We’ll send you a packing list closer to the trip — you’ll want comfortable walking shoes, layers, hats, water bottles, sunscreen, rain gear, etc.
Q: What is the cancellation / refund policy?
A: Our policy is detailed in our booking terms and covers these topics. Be sure to review it carefully before reserving your spot.
